Government aside, the citizens of WI can see what happened in the rest of the country. I grew up in WI and moved away over 30 years ago ... wear the darned mask. It is no more of an infringement of your rights than a seatbelt, a life jacket or a helmet. Don’t blame the government - take personal responsibility for your actions!!

It is a lot different from seat belt when u can’t breathe with a mask on and u keep pulling at it and putting your dirty hands in your eyes. And work in a factory where the air is bad and u keep all that shit in your mask. 5million people and 1300 deaths 98% recovery out ways it all

Yes you can breathe with a mask on. I wore them for hours on end for years. That’s a flimsy excuse at best. Is it uncomfortable after awhile sure but you can breathe. There is also the option of staying home & having someone run your errands.

The lock down is doing far more harm than good. Wow, over 50 deaths in Wisconsin. Apparently no one had died there before now. And that's over 50 dead WITH Covid, not necessarily OF.

Fitzgerald and Voss are to blame for this. They defy Governor Evers every chance they get. Wear your masks people!

This aged poorly. Every state took their turn. Now that covid is basically done Wisconsin is in the most favorable quarter of states in the deaths per capita metric. Second best in the Midwest despite being the first to fully open up. The state legislature can surely be embarrassing at times. But here I applaud them for not caving into the pressure and keeping our society open as much as they could. If only they could have kept schools open for in-person. Closing schools can simply never happen again.

Let me guess here this is a democratic organization that wrote this?? Cheese & rice!!!! Maybe they shouldn’t have opened up bars before restaurants?? What about the people themselves being responsible?? Seriously.

This needs a fact check. 50 deaths in 3 days? Sorry, those numbers were reconciled from previous weeks and were added on those days.

Gimme mortality rates otherwise this is more scare tactics,,

How about digging just a BIT DEEPER into the statistics. WI had 23 deaths per 100m people in this period. CA, that bastion of "lock it down and wear a mask", had 40 per 100k people. NY -- another bastion of Democrat freedom restrictions -- (please include both NY and NYC since the CDC has two sets of numbers) had 365 deaths per 100k. Yup, lock it down and still have LOTS MORE deaths per population numbers. Blame whoever you want but if you're going to blame the Republicans HERE for something then you really need to blame (and explain HOW) the Democrats in those states where they have TOTAL CONTROL and failed miserably. OH YEAH, ILLINOIS -- 70 deaths per 100k and THEY won't let people from WI visit Chicago. Seriously?

But every third car on WI roads were IL. Stupid!

By digging A BIT DEEPER do you mean spinning data? Wisconsin is number one for cases per 100k right now. You are talking about New York, Illinois, over a total time period. Do we learn from the recent past or not? Do we learn from our neighbors or not? Don’t stick your head in stats and pretend it’s not the sand.

You need to go to the map on the actual website where you can click on the data. The numbers I quoted are for the EXACT SAME TIME PERIOD. No massaging or spinning of data but the data as furnished on the site. You can NOT blame this on NOT locking down when the results WITH locking down have had even MORE deaths per 100K people. Read the data before jumping to a conclusion.

I understand you are talking about deaths overall. If you take out the blue states there’d be way less deaths. If you take out the blue states and the red states there’d be no deaths. The point is this week we are number one for cases and that is a pretty good indicator for deaths going forward. In terms of blaming this on locking down or not. You are right this is more nuanced than that. The point is the Gerrymandered Ol’ Party of this state has been deliberately inactive.

"The point is this week we are number one for cases and that is a pretty good indicator for deaths going forward." Nope. Not when the disease has an over 99% recovery rate.

Democrat Freedom restrictions? 😂Wearing a mask and not going out to bars and restaurants is not a restriction to your freedom. They have/are doing this in countries around the world from Italy to South Korea. I’m born and raised in Eau Claire and live in Brooklyn, NY. It’s infuriating to read stuff like this and New York has not failed miserably. The majority of New Yorkers live in small apartments and we rely on public transportation to get around. If there wasn’t mask mandates and lockdowns, things would be a lot worse, obviously. WI numbers shouldn’t be anywhere near as high as those of NY per 100k since many people have houses and cars and much more space. NYC is a travel hub and tourist destination — no city in WI is. Of course cases will be higher when 1 in 38 people living in the US live in NYC. Unfortunately, republicans have made this political and it never should have been. There has been a lot of push back from the majority republican Supreme Court in WI and Ron Johnson, who, surprise, now has Covid.

Wisconsin Dells, Lake Geneva, & Door county are all tourist destinations in WI.

You’re right and specifically tourists from IL for the dells and Lake Geneva. I should have said “international travel hub” as the point is that of course NYC is going to get hit hard with the amount of international travel from Asia and Europe and people in close proximity.

Why is Wisonsin a COVID-19 hot spot? Look at the correlation between hot spots in Wisconsin and cities with highest drinking rate per capita in US. Now add one of the highest number of bars per capita in the U.S. and a Supreme Court and Republican legislature that demand bars stay open. It is not rocket science.

No one is forcing the people of WI to go to open bars. Let’s see some personal accountability.
