Folks, today is the day. We are hosting a live podcast event! And it’s free (FREE!) to attend!
Join us at Anodyne Coffee’s Walker’s Point Roastery from 6-8 p.m. for an evening of conversation and community.
Dan Shafer, the founder of The Recombobulation Area, will be joined by award-winning contributors Angela Lang, executive director of Black Leaders Organizing for Communities (BLOC), and Philip Rocco, political science professor at Marquette University to discuss the Republican National Convention as it is about to descend upon Milwaukee, and will answer questions from the audience live during the show.
PLUS — and this is new! — we will be joined by Stephanie Roades, who is an organizer for the “Great Milwaukee Block Party.”
In case you haven’t heard, during the week of the RNC, a host of community organizations are working together for a grassroots effort of counter-programming and protest.
As they describe it:
“The Great Milwaukee Block Party (GMBP) is a collection of events, spaces, and activities that uplift and celebrate Milwaukee, created by the community for the community, facilitating connection with each other in acts of joyful rebellion during the week that the RNC will be in town. There are three levels of ways to get involved — public events, small group hosted, and individual — event kits for all three levels available on our social media platforms. Public events can be submitted with the RSVP form through 7/13. Here is our link tree: https://linktr.ee/greatmkeblockparty”
Locations hosting events include Cactus Club, X-Ray Arcade, Comedy Sportz, Lost Valley Cider Co., Sugar Maple, Diverse & Resilient, Canni-MKE, Sherman Phoenix, The Cooperage, and more. This will be a great opportunity to learn about what’s happening in the city of Milwaukee during the RNC, outside of the convention.
