After more than 80 columns here at The Recombobulation Area, we realized that it was time for a new look.
The design you see here for our fancy, brand new logo was designed by none other than the lovely and talented Katie Shafer — yes, my wife! As I’ve mentioned before, The Recombobulation Area is truly a family affair.
With me being a writer and Katie being a designer, we’ve talked about merging these skills of ours on many occasions, and well, it finally happened.
This column, as you know, gets its name from the the post-security area at Milwaukee’s Mitchell Airport where one “recombobulates” (which is not a real word nor something that exists anywhere else in the world, making it basically perfect). Combining that with a bit of good ol’ fashioned newsprint is where we get our paper airplane-themed logo. It tilts a bit to the left, and the reason why should be pretty obvious to those of you familiar with this column by now.
Recombobulation Area set out with the goal of starting small, starting independently, and building one piece at a time. And we think what we’re building — all of us, together — is something pretty special. The political media landscape in Milwaukee and Wisconsin has been in real need of some recombobulation, and we hope that’s something we’ve been delivering to your inbox, every week. We want to keep growing, and this new look is yet another step in that growth.
