The new “9-8-8” Suicide and Crisis Lifeline official launched this past week. This national launch was a big deal, creating a brand new way for people experiencing a mental health crisis to access care in a simplified and streamlined, safe and confidential way.
This is an important step in addressing the mental health and suicide crisis in America, and Sen. Tammy Baldwin was instrumental in its creation. She introduced the bill to create the “9-8-8” line and has seen it through to its launch. She deserves praise for her work on such an important issue.
“This will save lives,” she said.
