SPECIAL BROADCAST: “Make Your Vote Count 2024” on Civic Media
TONIGHT: This special broadcast on voting and the 2024 election will feature author Ari Berman, a panel discussion featuring former governor Scott McCallum and is hosted by Maggie Daun and Dan Shafer.
The Recombobulation Area is a thirteen-time Milwaukee Press Club award-winning weekly opinion column and online publication founded by longtime Milwaukee journalist Dan Shafer. The Recombobulation Area is now part of Civic Media.
First things first: Early in-person absentee voting starts TODAY in Wisconsin. This is not a drill, people. This is happening.
Make your plan to vote today. Head over to myvote.wi.gov to find all of the information you need on voting in Wisconsin. The page titled “Vote Absentee in Person” will show you all of the options available to you for early voting and voting by drop box in the municipality where you live. Do this, spread the word, let’s go. It is time.

To celebrate this first day of early voting, Civic Media is hosting a special broadcast at 6 p.m.
The show is called “Make Your Vote Count 2024” and will be hosted by Civic Media’s Maggie Daun, host of “The Maggie Daun Show,” as well as yours truly!

Tonight’s show will feature an interview with Ari Berman, national voting rights correspondent for Mother Jones and the author of “Give Us The Ballot” and his latest, “Minority Rule: The Right-Wing Attack on the Will of the People―and the Fight to Resist It.”
There will also be a panel discussing issues like drop boxes, voting eligibility, late night ballot drops, and more. That will feature Scott McCallum, the former governor who is now the Republican Lead at the Wisconsin Alliance for Civic Trust, Marge Bostelmann, a former Wisconsin Elections Commissioner, and Nick Ramos, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign.
Also on the broadcast will be the hosts of the Civic Media radio show and podcast “BustED Pencils,” Dr. Tim Slekar and Dr. Johnny Lupinacci, whose show focuses on education.
