The Milwaukee Press Club has announced its finalists for its 93nd Annual Milwaukee Press Club Excellent in Wisconsin Journalism awards, and once again, The Recombobulation Area is a winner!
The Recombobulation Area is a finalist in four categories, a new high mark for the publication. We’ll find out at the Gridiron Awards event on May 12 whether these awards are for gold, silver or bronze.

These four finalists make it a total of ten (10!) Milwaukee Press Club awards that The Recombobulation Area has won in three years.
Last year, the “Expanding the Divide” series, on the proposed expansion of I-94 in Milwaukee, won three awards, including the publication’s first Gold award, for Best Multi-Story Coverage of a Single Feature Topic or Event. In the 2020 awards, The Recombobulation Area won three, including Best Column.
In a more than a decade in journalism in Milwaukee, Dan Shafer, founder of The Recombobulation Area, has won 17 Milwaukee Press Club Excellence in Journalism Awards. Along with the ten for The Recombobulation Area, awards were won at the Milwaukee Business Journal, Milwaukee Magazine, and ThirdCoast Digest.
