Greetings, recombobulators!
I hope you’ve been enjoying all of the latest at
, our brand daily newsletter keeping you up to date on the latest news from across Wisconsin, commentary from across the network, and so much more from across the Civic Media extended universe.Reminder that it is free to subscribe and you can do that right here.
We also got news this week from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation that the I-94 East-West project would be officially begin construction the week of Nov. 3, and that it is scheduled to last until 2033. That’s right, there’s going to be eight years of construction to widen the highway to the tune of more than $1.7 billion in order to maybe improve commute times by a few minutes.
I had a few quick things to say about this on The Recombobulation Minute, which you can hear on the Civic Media airwaves or listen to right here.
It might also be worth revisiting our award-winning multi-part series on this project, “Expanding the Divide.”
This is going to be just an awful, awful project on so many levels. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
On to the roundup, which includes radio appearances from the last two weeks…
Today on “Matenaer On Air” (9-11 a.m. weekdays on Civic Media) we talked about a new CapTimes investigative story that “found the state Department of Public Instruction investigated more than 200 Wisconsin teachers, aides, substitutes and administrators from 2018 to 2023 who were accused of sexual misconduct or grooming behaviors toward students — information previously unknown to the public,” and why a bipartisan investigation should follow (and it’s a tough read, but you should really read the piece). We also talked about the highway expansion news and this weekend’s “No Kings” protests.
On Thursday, I joined “The Todd Allbaugh Show” (2-4 p.m. on Civic Media), where Todd was broadcasting live from WXCO in Wausau, to talk about who might be running in the 7th Congressional District and a flurry of announcements from Republicans running for State Senate in a series of districts in northern Wisconsin.
On Tuesday, I joined Pat Kreitlow on “Mornings with Pat Kreitlow” to talk about the latest in state politics (and a little bit about the Brewers).
You can also find my radio appearances from last week below.
