Recombobulating on the radio (Late February Edition)
Featuring appearances on the "Wisconsin Forward" podcast, "The Maggie Daun Show," "Matenaer On Air," and more.
The Recombobulation Area is a thirteen-time Milwaukee Press Club award-winning weekly opinion column and online publication founded by longtime Milwaukee journalist Dan Shafer. The Recombobulation Area is now part of Civic Media.
Recombobulators, we hope you’ve had a terrific week! You know, considering.
Here’s our weekly roundup of all radio and podcast appearances from yours truly, on the Civic Media radio network and beyond.
Along with my usual Civic Media spots on “The Maggie Daun Show” (every Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.) and “Matenaer On Air” (every Friday at 11 a.m.), I joined the “Wisconsin Forward” podcast, was on multiple shows on WCPT 820 / Heartland Signal in Chicago, and I also guest-hosted “Civic Media Mornings” on Tuesday.
Let’s start there, for our recap.
Watch the full show here on the Civic Media YouTube channel, or stream it online here (Hour 1, Hour 2).
During Hour 1, we talked about the race for State Superintendent in Wisconsin (and the column I just wrote on the race), and then was joined by reporter Dan Hagen of WJFW.
In Hour 2, we were joined by Kate Duffy of Motherhood for Good, and then passed the baton to Chad Holmes, host of Civic Media’s “The Chad Holmes Show,” who hosted Mornings on Wednesday.
You can also watch a social clip from a conversation I had with Kate Duffy here.
Follow Motherhood for Good on Instagram and subscribe to Kate’s Substack here:
I also joined Matt Rothschild, former executive director of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, for his Civic Media podcast “Wisconsin Forward.”
Here, we talked about the race for Wisconsin Supreme Court. Listen on Civic Media here or stream on your favorite podcast app below.
On Friday, I joined Greg Bach to co-host “Matenaer On Air” while Jane was off for the day. We talked about an ad put forward by the Brad Schimel campaign, an ad on abortion rights, which features his adopted daughters.
I talked about how, regardless of party, I am opposed to politicians putting their own children in political ads. We discussed that issue for much of the first hour of the show.
Listen/watch here (and here on Civic Media).
On Saturday, March 1, I joined Edwin Eisendrath of Chicago’s WCPT 820 and Heartland Signal for his show, “The Big Picture.”
Find all episodes of that show here.
Also on WCPT 820 this week, I joined Patti Vasquez to talk about the race for Wisconsin Supreme Court and more.
Find all episodes here, and listen to the show below (my segment begins at about 54:00)
On Tuesday, I joined Maggie Daun for our new “State Slate” segment on “The Maggie Daun Show.”
Here, we talked about the right-wing freakout about Gov. Evers’ budget language where the word “woman” was changed to “inseminated person,” which may have seemed ridiculous, but was really just in a section on state statues on fertility treatments, using language that reflect the reality of same-sex couples.
We also talked about the latest on the State Superintendent race, which could be the most competitive race for the office in decades.
My segment starts at about the mid-point of each podcast, embedded below.
Busy week, folks! And we’ll be back at it next week, too.
Keep recombobulating!
