Recombobulating on the radio (Week of June 15-21)
Lotta yappin' this week, folks. Find it all rounded up here.
The Recombobulation Area is a thirteen-time NINETEEN-TIME Milwaukee Press Club award-winning opinion column and online publication founded by longtime Milwaukee journalist Dan Shafer. The Recombobulation Area is now part of Civic Media.
We made it to the end of the week, folks. Time to recombobulate with the roundup.
I was on the air all over the place across the Civic Media, and on a few other shows over the last week, talking about a few of my recent pieces, including my coverage of the WisDems convention, and my (somewhat controversial!) column on why I think Tony Evers should not run for a third term.
If you missed any of that, find it here.
And as always, if you’re interested in having me (Dan Shafer) or another contributor from The Recombobulation Area join your radio show, podcast, TV show, livestream or whatever kind of show you might have, email me at dan.shafer@civicmedia.us.
Also this week: I paid a visit to Boswell Book Company in Milwaukee where my friend (and award-winning Recombobulation Area contributor!) Philip Rocco, political science professor at Marquette University, discussed his brand new book, “Counting Like a State: How Intergovernmental Partnerships Shaped the 2020 US Census.” It was a terrific event. Find the book here (or at Boswell!).
On to the roundup…
Over the weekend, I joined Mark Becker on “Rational Revolution” (2-3 p.m. Saturdays, 1-2 p.m. Sundays) to talk about my column on Tony Evers. I always have such a great time on this show, talking with Mark! Highly recommended for longer discussions on Wisconsin politics, always with terrific guests.
On Monday, I joined “Matenaer On Air” (9-11 a.m. on Civic Media) to talk about spending the weekend at the WisDems convention in Wisconsin Dells.
On Tuesday, as I do every Tuesday at 8:30 a.m., I joined “Mornings with Pat Kreitlow” (6-9 a.m. on Civic Media) to talk about the WisDems convention and more.
On Thursday, I joined “The Todd Allbaugh Show” (2-4 p.m. on Civic Media) to talk about the convention, the latest news about Republicans proposing an $87 million cut to the UW System — a story Todd first reported on Monday, and has been all over throughout the week — and more of the latest political news in Wisconsin, including Rebecca Cooke getting endorsed by Bernie Sanders. She is a fascinating candidate.
Also on Thursday, I joined Patti Vasquez on Heartland Signal / WCPT 820 in Chicago for “Driving it Home” to talk about the latest political news from Wisconsin.
Listen at the 36:30 mark.
I also joined the Citizen Action of Wisconsin “Battleground Wisconsin” podcast this week, to talk about my piece on Tony Evers. My segment begins at about the 15:00 mark.
On Friday, as I do every week at 10 a.m., I joined “Matenaer On Air” to talk about the state budget impasse, if Tony Evers should veto the budget, and about why I think Summerfest’s three-weekend format is an abomination.
Also on Friday, I joined “The Maggie Daun Show” (4-6 p.m. on Civic Media) to talk about the WisDems convention, my interview with Sen. Raphael Warnock, the state budget impasse, and whether Tony Evers should veto the budget.
WHEW, that was a lot. Thanks for listening this week, folks! We’ll see you next week.
