Recombobulating on the radio (Early March Edition)
Featuring appearances on the "Todd Allbaugh Show," "Matenaer On Air" and more.
The Recombobulation Area is a thirteen-time Milwaukee Press Club award-winning weekly opinion column and online publication founded by longtime Milwaukee journalist Dan Shafer. The Recombobulation Area is now part of Civic Media.
Busy times, recombobulators.
We are rapidly approaching the April 1 Spring Election. Early voting (absentee in person) begins Tuesday, March 18. So much is at stake. So, be prepared to go vote, and be sure to spread the word.
Turnout will be a huge factor in this race. In 2023, when now-Justice Janet Protasiewicz defeated Daniel Kelly, about 1.85 million people voted. In last year’s presidential election, about 3.36 million people voted. Who shows up in this election is going to be critical, and you can all play a part in getting people to the polls.
So, before we get to the radio recap, go to MyVote Wisconsin and find what’s going to be on your ballot, find your polling place, make your plan to vote, and then go tell 10 people to do the same.
Done? Great stuff, folks. Now, onto the recap.
If you couldn’t be there in person for our event with UpNorthNews in Madison on Wednesday evening, you can watch the full event at the link above, and listen to the entire broadcast, which aired live on Civic Media, as a podcast here (or Apple Podcasts or Spotify, embedded here).
On Friday, as I do every week at 11 a.m., I joined Jane Matenaer and Greg Bach for “Matenaer On Air” to recombobulate on the news of the week.
On Thursday, I joined Todd Allbaugh — in studio in Madison! — to kick things off on “The Todd Allbaugh Show” the morning after the first and only debate between Susan Crawford and Brad Schimel in the race for Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Listen to the show as a podcast at Civic Media here, or see the embedded audio and video below.
Todd and I talked for the first half hour of the show about the debate, which, honestly, you should take the time to watch, if you missed it live on Wednesday night.

On Friday, I joined Patti Vasquez of WCPT 820 and Heartland Signal for “Driving it Home,” where we talk about the big stories of the week in Wisconsin politics (my segment starts at about 52:00).
You can see appearances from the previous week on “Matenaer On Air” and “The Maggie Daun Show” here.
