The Milwaukee Press Club has announced its finalists for its 92nd Annual Milwaukee Press Club Excellent in Wisconsin Journalism awards, and once again, The Recombobulation Area is a winner!
The Recombobulation Area is a finalist in three categories. They are:
Best Multi-Story Coverage of a Single Feature Topic or Event (Writing)
Best Single Editorial, Statement of Editorial Position or Opinion (Writing)
Best Public Service Story or Series (Online)

The 2022 Gridiron Awards event will be held at The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee on May 6. At the event, each award will win gold, silver or bronze in its individual category.
The event will also honor Manu Raju, CNN chief congressional correspondent, who will receive the Sacred Cat Award, recognizing journalism achievement at the national level, and former Wisconsin Governor and UW System President Tommy G. Thompson, who will be honored with the Headliner Award.
This is the second consecutive year that The Recombobulation Area has won multiple Milwaukee Press Club awards. Last year, we won for Best Column (Writing), Best Single Editorial, Statement of Editorial Position or Opinion (Writing), and Best Column (Online).
In a decade in journalism in Milwaukee, Dan Shafer, columnist and founder of The Recombobulation Area, has won 13 Milwaukee Press Club Excellence in Journalism Awards, including winning in the “Best Single Editorial, Statement of Editorial Position or Opinion” category three times (2015, 2020, 2021).
