"We don’t need to wait for permission. We don’t need the perfect polling memo, or a six-figure campaign budget, or even consensus on every issue. What we need is already here.”
Outstanding, actionable advice for finding the way forward. Strategically smart, as well as being the morally right thing to do. Question: The Biden administration did some very good things through the investments they made in communities across the country (infrastructure, manufacturing, reducing child poverty, etc). And yet, they either didn’t get credit for much of it, or their efforts have been forgotten (or co-opted by Republicans). How do we “do good” and also make certain people remember where the help came from, without seeming self-serving?
I realize you can't actually put this in writing, but the fault does not lie with the Democratic Party. It lies with every person who failed to vote Democratic in the last election. While you are raising money for school lunches, acknowledge that these are radicalized low-information voters who have been convinced to vote against their own significant self-interests. Instead, they voted for higher prices, lost profits, less health care and their own retirement security. They voted to make billionaires richer. Who does that? You meet them on social media where they get their information. You just make sure they can connect the dots on how their finances are affected by MAGA votes. When they go low, you have to go low to meet them. It's extremely difficult to undo the damage done by those seduced by a cult and these are not normal times. Stop talking about Democratic failures when it should be obvious to anyone that Harris was a far better choice than a convicted molester felon who promised crippling tariffs, forced births, and the caging of children. You're going to lose the trust of Democrats if you keep blaming the party. If you can't tell the truth, it's better to talk about the future rather than cast false blame to the past.
From a practical and forward thinking perspective, I feel the points made by Emily actually resonate voter loyalty and dedication. If I am seen but dismissed for trends, slogans, and being a tiny cog in the DPOC then Apathy replaces gratitude. Inaction replaces effort and involvement. I will feel seen thanks to her community involvement ideals. I do agree with some of your message. However, struggling citizens absolutely recall and respond to basic genuine contact.
