Happy Milwaukee Day!
This is just a truly phenomenal holiday. Born in 2010 as a half-joking idea between friends Andy Silverman, Brent Gohde, and Timm Gable, Milwaukee Day has grown over the past decade to become a signature celebration in a city that loves to celebrate. Making the connection between the 414 area code and April 14 (4/14) has turned into a wonderful spring tradition for this incredible city.
Now, the Milwaukee Brewers are even getting in on the fun, scheduling the first pitch for their 2022 home opener at 4:14 p.m. What a holiday! What a city!
This will be the first Milwaukee Day with in-person events scheduled since 2019. The pandemic pushed events into the virtual realm for the past two years, and it will be wonderful to celebrate together again. There are many, many options for you to choose from.
The Milwaukee Day leadership also underwent a change going into this year. The aforementioned co-founders passed the torch to Mocha Harris, who owns and operates the talent buying and booking venture, MKExpanded. She was recently interviewed about her plans for the homegrown holiday over at Milwaukee Record, where she said, “[T]he change in Milwaukee, as far as us having unity, is coming. I want to celebrate the east side, the west side, the north side. I want us to come together as one because I think if we put our minds together, the city could do something great.”
We couldn’t agree more. This vibe is something we saw last year, celebrating the first championship Milwaukee has seen in 50 years, seeing the city come together like never before. We’re the City of Champions now, and a new era is beginning.
It’s going to be wonderful to come together and celebrate all of this city on April 14.
Enjoy the day, Milwaukee. You’ve earned it.
