Wisconsin’s media landscape is overly beholden to corporate chain ownership of local newspapers. Recent news that Gannett — which owns 11 newspapers in the state — would be laying off employees is discouraging.
The ever-present threat of cuts to already-understaffed publications is particularly problematic in a state like Wisconsin, and it’s more important now than ever to subscribe to your local newspaper.
