The changing of district lines with Wisconsin’s new state legislative maps will mean a brand new landscape for elections this year.
With these new lines, several legislators will be drawn into the same districts. WisPolitics has a very good breakdown on incumbent pairings that you can see here.
There was some news this week on one of those districts where incumbent legislators will be paired together. Republican state senators Duey Stroebel of Saukville and Dan Knodl of Germantown will be in the same district under new maps. Like all even-numbered State Senate districts, this seat will be on the ballot this year.
Earlier this week, Knodl told the Ozaukee County News Graphic that he would not be seeking re-election in that district. He said he discussed it with Stroebel, and that Stroebel would be running to represent District 8. Knodl later told WisPolitics that he might instead run for another seat.
This new 8th District in the State Senate will be a competitive one. In the 2022 midterms, it was won by both Ron Johnson and Tony Evers.
