The Recombobulation Area is a 19-time 21-TIME! Milwaukee Press Club award-winning opinion column and online publication founded by longtime Milwaukee journalist Dan Shafer. The Recombobulation Area is now part of Civic Media.
The Recombobulation Area has bee around for more than six years now, and as we’ve said from the beginning, this publication is not just about the columns you might read or podcasts you might listen to, it’s about the community we’re building with our subscribers — with you.
As part of that mission, we want to hear from you. We want to know more about who you are, and about what you want to see (or not see) here at The Recombobulation Area. Learning more about you is going to help us do an even better job covering news and politics in Milwaukee and Wisconsin — as we plan for the 2026 midterm elections and beyond.
