Regarding the voter ID question: I was an election inspector again this spring. The most common question I heard - and was not permitted to answer - was along the lines of "But I already have to show ID to vote. So what's the difference?"
In my opinion, this referendum was only slightly less weasel-worded than the previous few. I could certainly understand why people didn't seem to grasp that it was a move to change the requirement from a state law to a part of the state constitution, or why that would be an important difference in the first place.
