In addition to making photo ID more accessible, the current requirements for for what photo IDs are accepted at the polls could be loosened considerably under this new addition to the state Constitution.

Regarding the voter ID question: I was an election inspector again this spring. The most common question I heard - and was not permitted to answer - was along the lines of "But I already have to show ID to vote. So what's the difference?"

In my opinion, this referendum was only slightly less weasel-worded than the previous few. I could certainly understand why people didn't seem to grasp that it was a move to change the requirement from a state law to a part of the state constitution, or why that would be an important difference in the first place.
